Trump Derangement Syndrome Turns Liberals Into Hawks!

The election of Donald Trump as president in 2016 has so unhinged the Democratic Party that it has now become the War Party in reaction to his peace gestures.
Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is so intense it has turned the former anti-war liberals who opposed the Viet Nam War and marched to stop W. Bush from attacking Iraq in 2003 into full-fledged war-mongers.
Glenn Greenwald and others have documented the marriage of Democratic elites with Never-Trump NeoCons who eagerly accuse the president of being impulsive and a Putin Puppet for attempting to keep his campaign promise of ending our role as global cop.
What makes this situation even more bizarre is that his renewed pledge of troop withdrawals in Syria and Afghanistan are being undermined by his chief national security advisers, Pompeo and Bolton.
Elizabeth Warren and Tulsi Gabbard have expressed similar views to Trump with similar results, especially against the Hawaiian Congresswoman whose Iraq War Veteran status adds gravitas to her credibility.
Their presidential ambitions along with those of other Democratic Party liberals are being complicated by this dynamic in which promoting peace is seen as anathema because it is inconsistent with TDS’s insistence that whatever this incumbent proposes must be vehemently challenged.
We see that clearly with the government shut-down over the Wall and other issues with House Democrats publicly drooling at the prospect of commencing impeachment proceedings against their despised adversary.
Few seem to be evaluating the harm such a process will do to an already unsteady Ship of State and beleaguered electorate disgusted with government corruption, waste and incompetence.
The days ahead are filled with peril and unique challenges including whether pro-peace Democrats will abandon their now pro-war liberal comrades to unite with similar minded Independents and Republicans like Rand Paul who urge an end to America’s Imperial Ways.
Will the hawkish howls of TDS liberals lead to the formation of a new political party? Can the American Empire continue under the current global economic conditions and protracted wars that have drained our National Treasury while expanding the debt?
Will the Trump Administration’s mixed signals on troop withdrawals and war threats towards Iran undermine the Republican Party as well? In the run-up to the 2020 election, many of these issues are likely to be addressed even if few will be resolved despite the promises of candidates eager to impress voters. It is a very precarious situation, indeed!
