SHERIFF CALLS FOR U.S. TROOPS ON RIO GRANDE

Another border-state sheriff is voicing his frustrations with the Obama administration’s failure to secure the border, saying the lack of action has overwhelmed his county with criminals, drug-cartel members and possible terrorists.

Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Arizona, unloaded on Obama in a video interview last week, accusing the president and Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson of violating their oaths of office.

Babeu, a former Army officer who served in Iraq, says the U.S stations more than 28,000 troops to guard South Korea and secure its border against any penetration from North Korea, yet it shows no commitment to secure its own border with Mexico.

“We’ve been there (in Korea) for 50-plus years,” he said. “We do this for countries all over the world. When are we going to put America first?”

Babeu continued, “ISIS is beheading Americans and they’re saying, ‘We’re coming for you.’ The wolf is at the door. When are we going to put our country, America, first? What else do we need to know?”

He said Obama should immediately deploy U.S. troops along the entire southern border with Mexico. This is what it would take to help local law enforcement, which is “overwhelmed,” he said.

“We’ve been forgotten about by our president and others in this administration,” Babeu said. “Their eyes are diverted and are off the ball. We’ve been saying for years, not just myself but countless other law enforcement officers, that this is probably the gravest national security threat our nation faces because it provides through this porous, this open border a natural avenue of approach for our enemies from any part of the world, not just ISIS, but any possible terrorist threat.”

He said his part of the state, the Tucson area, has apprehended 123,000 illegals, according to the most recent figure from the Border Patrol this year. Tucson is just one of nine border sectors across Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.

“If that many, just basic illegals, if they can make it through, deep into the heart of our country, it stands to reason that those people with military training, that are very disciplined, have deliberate plans and all the financial resources at their disposal, that they can get in also, undetected, and could harm our nation,” he said.

Babeu said all the chatter about “immigration reform” that the American people have heard from the Obama administration since the surge at the border became big news earlier in the summer has amounted to “more talk and more lies.”

He also had strong words for Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who sent a letter to Texas Gov. Rick Perry to protest Perry’s decision to deploy about 2,000 members of the Texas National Guard along the border saying it was “an attack on good relations and neighborliness” with Mexico.

Babeu said if Nieto were really concerned about “neighborliness,” he would clamp down on the drug cartels and secure his own border.

Babeu displayed a booking sheet of a 17-time deportee who is a cartel member who will undoubtedly return again. Babeu describes Obama as having “absolutely failed in his core responsibility in the Constitution to protect and defend our nation here at home.”

Babeu describes how two years ago the feds “released 300 to 400 serious criminals, violent offenders in many cases, two who were charged with manslaughter, several that were charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, sexual molestation of children – illegals. These aren’t even criminals from our country, but foreign countries, largely Mexico, and the president just summarily released them into our communities.”

He said Obama’s spokesman, Jay Carney, tried to discredit him and accused him of lying about the criminal release. It was only through Freedom of Information requests by the media that the truth came out, showing that it was in fact the Obama administration that had been lying, he said.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC or ALIPAC, said Babeu is just the latest in a long line of sheriffs growing increasingly frustrated by the federal government’s lack of interest in border security.

“Here you have a sheriff trying to do his job with no support,” said Gheen. “Large numbers of terrorists have already exploited the inadequate patrol of our borders, and the reason they are not attacking us is because they are so pleased with the way things are going under President Obama.”

Gheen said he believes thousands of potential terrorists have entered the country but are not attempting any attacks because they are quite happy with current policies coming out of the White House and the feeble Republican leadership.

“If there were another 9/11 style attack, it would increase the public pressures to secure the border. Illegal immigration and Obama are doing more to destroy America than any terrorist attack could ever hope to achieve, so why would any terrorist want to upset what is already happening?” Gheen asked. “The cartels are the same. We know there are thousands of cartel members all around us in America, but they’re not killing in the volumes they do in Central and South American because their agenda is proceeding and they are harvesting billions of dollars of wealth in America by turning our children into addicts of their chemical weapons, primarily cocaine and methamphetamine.”

Gheen said that while the main culprit right now is Obama and his administration, “he is being facilitated and assisted by Republicans in Congress,” such as Rep. John Boehner, R-Ill., and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., along with the Republican National Committee and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

He said ALIPAC will be releasing in two to three weeks a definitive list of pro-amnesty candidates running for Congress in the Nov. 4 election.

“We are building what will become America’s most definitive and comprehensive amnesty list. We won’t have the millions of dollars to combat the commercial lies coming out of these campaigns, but we do have the ability to create the definitely amnesty list and put it in a central location on the Internet and we hope to have it ready for release in the next two weeks and it will have John McCain and Lindsey Graham and Boehner placed right next to Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, which is exactly where they belong.”

He said ALIPAC is encouraging its supporters and members to vote against all incumbent amnesty candidate, whether Republican or Democrat.

“If you’re an amnesty incumbent, we are against you,” Gheen said. “We are loyal to the Constitution, not any party.”

ALIPAC is also organizing mass protest rallies against illegal immigration the weekend of Oct. 24-25.

“We can do this,” Babeu said, about his plan to secure the border with troops. “I reject these defeatists who say this border can’t be secured.”
