Bill O’Reilly Outright Lies About Putin–Trump Sets Him Straight
Trump on Putin being a ‘killer’: ‘What do you think — our country’s so innocent?’
President Trump questioned the innocence of the U.S. because it has “a lot of killers,” during an exchange about working with Russia to defeat terrorism abroad.
During a clip of a interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, set to air Sunday before the Super Bowl, Trump was questioned on whether he respects Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I do respect him but —,” Trump started to say.
“Do you? Why?”, O’Reilly interrupted.
“Well, I respect a lot of people but that doesn’t mean I’m going to get along with him,” Trump answered. “He’s a leader of his country. I say it’s better to get along with Russia than not. And if Russia helps us in the fight against ISIS, which is a major fight, and Islamic terrorism all over the world — that’s a good thing.”
He added: “Will I get along with him? I have no idea.”
O’Reilly shot back: “But he’s a killer though. Putin’s a killer.”
“There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers,” Trump replied. “What do you think — our country’s so innocent?”
The clip did not reveal whether Trump went on to explain who the killers are or what he meant by questioning the country’s innocence.
