Zakharova Responds Strongly to State Department’s Harsh Words Towards Russia

Official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the statement of the official representative of the US State Department, that Russia allegedly cannot prove their seriousness towards the issue of the Syrian ceasefire.

Earlier an official representative of the US State Department, Mark Toner, a couple of hours before the conclusion of the armistice agreement on Syria said: “I don’t know how to express it – “It’s put up or shut up time.” He used this phrase to describe the uncertainty of the seriousness, in his view, of the intentions of Russia concerning the agreement on the truce in Syria.

“Shut up” – This is you, Mark, commanding your colleagues, when such an idiomatic communication style is prevalent among American diplomats,” wrote Maria Zakharova on her personal page on Facebook.

According to her, on Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry held a briefing about the beginning of the truce in Syria, where the Russian made everything “clear, understandable, accessible”.

“So, Mark, whilst the Russian side does not “shut up”, you have the chance to know what is really happening in Syria,” advised the official representative of the MFA of Russia to her American counterpart.

She also commented on the statement of Toner and the station “Russia 24”.

“Such very rude statements say a lot about the American side. Firstly, of course, it shows the absence of mind, and secondly, of course, about the lack of good education. Yet the main thing is that rudeness is the main indicator of the absence of any arguments,” said Zakharova.
