The former Wimbledon champion voiced his view on the much-publicised debate in the early hours of this morning, on the day voters make their final decision as to whether or not Scotland will remain a part of the United Kingdom.

“Huge day for Scotland today! no campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. excited to see the outcome. lets do this!,” he tweeted.

Although born in Scotland, Murray lives in Surrey with girlfriend Kim Sears.
Until now Murray has remained tight-lipped on the referendum,unlike many other high-profile names, only stating that “he didn’t like it” when Alex Salmond waved the Saltire flag behind David Cameron at Wimbledon.

“I started competing for Great Britain when I was 11. I’m 27 now and I’ve been competing for Great Britain for 16 years,” he told Sunday Times Style.

However, Twitter users were quick to condemn Murray’s standing, branding his decision “irresponsible” and “ill-advised”.
